Overview

takko is built by creators for creators. Our platform empowers users to create, collaborate, and build communities. For far too long, existing social media platforms have claimed to care for the needs of creators without having anything to show for it.

Research & Test

After establishing the mission and objectives of the company, we went ahead and conducted a series of deep user research from 1:1 interviews with Creators (in-person and via Zoom), Surveys were sent out to mid-and-leading Creator networks, and polling via social media. We then approached usability studies with Creators to measure UX behavior on a number of features to determine speed, complexity and intention. Everything we do is based on data.

Analyze

After our research, we distilled the data by creating 3 user personas that established our North Star. This allow us to design for the right user. We carefully looked at the user’s background, age, gender, behaviors, spending habits, pain points, needs, and goals

3 User Personas

  • The Creator

This persona is between 20 and 30 and loves to create content. The Creator is someone who is looking to monetize their content and thrives to do this for a living.

  • The Teacher

This persona loves to teach, do how-to’s, educates, and loves to build. This persona has a wider age gap and is passionate about teaching others through stories.

  • The Influencer

This persona is between 20 and 30 and has a strong presence on Instagram and Tik Tok. This persona are people who are looking to expand to other platforms and grow an audience.

Design Process

As part of the design process, we started with low fidelity prototypes to test various user flows before investing further into the design process. Then proceeded with a mood board, visual design, and a higher fidelity wireframe. Colors, icons, and UX writing through the app were established. This process was iterative with the CEO and CTO to ensure backend and frontend worked seamlessly.

Takko Carousel

We wanted to experiment with a new way for users / creators to interact with the content with a dynamic carousel. The design allowed users to reduce friction when it came to interacting with the original content creator. This also solved a unique way to create content into sequential threads.

Onboarding Sign up

We made it super easy for new users to create an account while creating age authentication triggers in the backend to ensure they are the appropriate age for app usage.

Onboarding Username

We wanted to give our users a unique identifier as well as an easy way to display their profile when they signed up. Each username was validated in the backend to ensure where were no duplicates.

Onboarding Profile Image

We made the Profile image process super easy and quick so new users can personalize their profile during sign up. The user can also skip the profile upload if they wanted to reduce any friction from the sign up process.

Onboarding Login

We wanted to make the login process as frictionless as possible, that’s why we gave users two options: phone and email. We utilized Twilio as a way to quickly send a verification code for a fast login experience.

Home

The design was created from the bottom up. Users would be able to experience content in a whole new way. From vertical scrolling, to upvotes/downvotes, sharing, adding “Takkos” which allowed users to add to a sequence, to many customized sort functions. All of which put the Creator first when designing the experience.

Create Post

We wanted to give our Creators tools to make their content come to life. Creators could create multi-clips, trim, add text, save to camera, and the ability to zoom in and out. Our goal was to start with the essentials, then progressively add more advanced features to enhance their content.

Notifications

Solving retention is a critical component to a successful app. That is why we made sure we included all the triggers to keep the user engaged and coming back into the app. From new followers, comments, takkos getting added, and surprise and delight messages from takko ensured the user was

Takko Business

Takko business allows brands to buy advertising spots within the mobile experience. Worked closely with the CEO and CTO to establish high MRR opportunities that offer high brand visibility while not imposing on the user.

Brand Guidelines

Established a set of brand guidelines for Takko. The guidelines are used by designers, writers, and anyone else using your brand’s elements like your logo to create marketing materials. The guidelines are usually presented in a book format that covers how your brand works and how the different elements of your brand work together to form your brand identity.
