Overview

BUCKiTDREAM ™ Inc was founded by the former Global CMO of Village Roadshow, Tim Carroll. BUCKiTDREAM’s first generation platform if offered on web, iOS and Android. BUCKiTDREAM allows any user to create their dreams & bucket list, share with their social networks and connect with merchants who can assist and fulfill their dreams. BUCKiTDREAM is the first of its kind to create the passion economy. The company has attracted partnerships with Ellen Degeneres, Richard Branson, Shaun White, and many others.

Research & Test

We hosted user groups, surveys, and conducted 1:1 interviews with our three types of personas to determine an experience that would meet all three user types. We conducted usability testing on a number of features to determine speed, complexity and intention. Everything we do is based on data.

The most dangerous thing you can do as a designer is not challenge your assumptions. Good user research challenges all your assumptions.

Analyze

After our research, we distilled the data by creating 3 user personas that established our North Star. This allow us to design for the right user. We carefully looked at the user’s background, age, gender, behaviors, spending habits, pain points, needs, and goals

New features always started off with paper prototypes and testing on paper.

Consumer Journey

This graphic shows a full cycle of a Dreamer going through the consumer journey from the time they hear about BUCKiTDREAM to broadcasting the dream.

Gamification

We designed game mechanics into the app to increase engagement and retention for our users. We looked at behaviors in apps like Linkedin, Twitter, and Facebook to break down a user down into core human desires and map them to particular functionalities. An important finding through research and testing is building in an “Achiever” logic and informing the user that they’ve finished a stage at each point, and clearly laying out the path for ht user to take in order to complete their goals, while being quite a verbose system.

 

Partnership with Richard Branson

We teamed up with Sir Richard Branson to launch the world’s most exclusive giveaway. Two lucky winners had the opportunity to spend an all-inclusive experience to the Necker Cup. Managed campaign execution from start to finish, from pitching, storytelling, branding, PR, and logistics.

 
 
 

Partnership with The Ellen Show

We teamed up with The Ellen Show to bring BUCKiTDREAM to millions of viewers worldwide. We worked closely with the Executive Producer and various team members to put together a game show concept on national TV. Worked on advertising, social media, and PR strategies to maximize reach and impact.

 
 
 

Partnership with Shaun White

From pitch to execution, we secured a partnership with Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White to be a brand partner for BUCKiTDREAM. We ran a co-branded giveaway for two VIP tickets to Air+Style Beijing 2016 with Shaun White.

 
 

In-App Contest Flow

Designed the UX and UI experience to easily capture and curate dreams for The Ellen Show campaign. A custom button was enabled for all users opening up the app, a custom push notification was sent out to all qualified users who fit the geographical criteria. The user can then create a bucket list to enter to win The Ellen Show LA Dream experience. We also incorporated a “how did you hear about this promotion” to capture referral source data to better optimize our advertising spend and its effectiveness. We also included an easy way to share the giveaway after a user completes their entry.

Result: Drove over 100k dreams created.

In-App Commerce Integration

As we crossed a million dreams published on the platform, we prototyped an in-app commerce feature that allowed users to purchase their dreams on their bucket list. We utilized AI and a series of algorithms to smartly connect and recommend experiences that would fit their passion score.

Result: Secured global partners who could fulfill dreams published by the users.
